Pharmacy PGY1 Residency Program

Scottsdale Healthcare’s PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program was established in 2003 and is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Pharmacy Services currently offers four PGY1 Pharmacy Resident positions. Pharmacy residents rotate between the Scottsdale Healthcare Shea and the Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn campuses.

The residency is designed to assist pharmacists in obtaining established goals and objectives in accordance with standards established by the ASHP through the Residency Learning Service (RLS) program. Pharmacists must be licensed or obtain a license within 60 (sixty) days of beginning the Residency.

Our Residency Program Mission

Pharmacists completing the Residency Program will be able to integrate pharmaceutical care as a component of the total care and management of patients requiring drug therapy in multiple environments. They will be accountable for achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes as members of the health care team. Pharmacists will have the ability and skills to educate patients and healthcare professionals on drug-related topics. They will demonstrate leadership skills and professional maturity by following a personal philosophy of practice, monitoring their own performance, exhibiting commitment to the profession, and exercising leadership in improving the safety of the medication-use system.
