Total Joint Centers
As we grow older and our bodies begin to change, many individuals experience painful problems with their joints. Whether caused by arthritis, injury, disease or daily wear and tear, joint pain and stiffness can become so severe that performing even the simplest daily activities can be difficult.
Scottsdale Healthcare’s comprehensive total joint program provides the full spectrum of care for our patients, from pre-operative education to post-operative rehabilitation services. We have dedicated units for total joint replacement patients at each of our campuses that are staffed by a multidisciplinary team including orthopedic surgeons, physicians, anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, case managers and orthopedic technicians. Working together, we provide a full array of patient services including:
- Pre-surgery Education Class
- Advance Planning for Post-Hospital Care
- On-site Rehabilitation
- Individual and Group Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
To make the experience as easy as possible, we have developed a pre-operative process which is a “one-stop-shop” for patients. A week before surgery, the patient comes to the hospital for two hours, allowing us to make sure that the medical clearance information is complete. We also finalize any additional medical testing ordered by the physician, provide a comprehensive joint replacement educational class taught by nurses and therapists and complete the financial clearance. This allows patients to go straight to the surgery department on their day of surgery.
Most of our patients are discharged from the hospital within three days and are able to go home with minimal caregiver assistance. Because medical studies have shown that joint replacement patients recover well at home directly, everything in our program is designed to help speed your recovery.
From your initial consultation through your surgical follow-up evaluation, the Scottsdale Healthcare Total Joint team will provide you with the world-class care you expect and put you on the road to improved mobility.
