Meet Our Staff

Community Health Services provides health education and service programs to the community through a diverse staff of committed professionals. All programs address Scottsdale Healthcare’s Community Health Needs Assessment, state and federal public health initiatives.

Renae D. Larcus, Ph.D.

Manager

Renae is currently the Manager of Community Health Services at Scottsdale Healthcare. Renae came to SHC in 2005 from the Arizona Department of Health Services where she directed the Obesity Prevention Program’s development of a statewide plan to reduce the incidence of obesity and related diseases through nutrition and physical activity interventions. Since 2005, Renae has served as a Regional Coordinator for Community Health Services, the Community Benefit Coordinator for the Scottsdale Healthcare system and as Physician Relations Manager for the Heart & Vascular Service Line. Renae is a nationally certified group exercise instructor and cycling trainer. She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Health Education from the University of Oregon, a Ph.D. in Health Education from the University of Utah and has been an invited speaker at over 200 conferences.

Chris O'Mara, MS, RN

Supervisor

Chris joined Scottsdale Healthcare in 2010 as a Community Health Nurse Educator. In 2012, she became Supervisor of Community Health Services. Chris earned a BSN from University of Michigan and a Master of Science focusing on Nursing Education from Northern Arizona University. She has practiced as an RN in obstetrics, community health nursing and education. She currently provides oversight for all program development, implementation and evaluation in Community Health Services while working collaboratively with community partners to address identified public health needs. Chris is a member of American Public Health Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and American Nurses Association among other organizations.

Michelle BarthMichelle Barth, LMSW, CPT

Community Health Services Social Worker 

Michelle Barth is a Licensed Master Social Worker and Fitness Instructor specializing in geriatrics at Scottsdale Healthcare. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Boise State University and her Master’s in Social Work at University of Hawaii Manoa. Michelle has been involved in various adult programs including the fall prevention initiative, 2 Fit 2 Fall, a community partnership involving the City of Scottsdale Fire Department, City of Scottsdale Senior Centers and Scottsdale Healthcare. She teaches community based classes on fall prevention, chronic disease management and older adult fitness.

Jamie Canfield, BA, ED, HHC

Community Health Educator 

Jamie works with all ages to help prevent obesity and Type II Diabetes. Jamie’s main focuses within the Community are the Healthy Kids 0-5 Program, where she visits preschools to teach the importance of nutrition and physical activity and the Nibbles of Nutrition series that educates adults, families, and seniors about the impact proper nutrition has on their health. Jamie received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2005 and taught 3rd grade until 2011 when she decided to pursue an education in Holistic Nutrition

Kerry Gerle, MSN-L, RN

Community Health Nurse Educator

Kerry joined the Community Health Services team in 1999 as a Community Health Nurse Educator. As a member of community health, she coordinates all pediatric programming. Kerry received both her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and Master’s in Nursing leadership from Grand Canyon University. Kerry is a member of the Arizona Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and Alpha Chi National College Honor Scholarship Society. She is certified as a HeartMath® Train the Trainer Instructor and Tai Chi Easy™ Community Practice Leader

Krissy HallKrissy Hall, CWC

Community Health Educator 

Krissy has worked with Scottsdale Healthcare since 2005 as an exercise physiologist in Corporate Wellness and now as a Community Health Educator in Community Health Services. Krissy has a degree from Arizona State University in Exercise and Wellness. She is a certified Wellness Coach through Wellcoach and ACSM. She is also a trainer for HeartMath® Transforming Stress workshops that she teaches to the community. Krissy lectures on nutrition topics and also leads a Healthy Lifestyles program

Tricia Neus, BS, CHES, AFAA

Community Health Educator  

Tricia graduated from Arizona State University and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise and Wellness with an emphasis on Health Promotion in 2007. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree from Grand Canyon University. Tricia also has certification as a Health Education Specialist, AFFA Group Exercise Instructor, Level I Crossfit Instructor, and is a Trained Tobacco Cessation Specialist. Tricia belongs to the Arizona Public Health Association and is an active member of the Arizona Obesity Coalition. Tricia works with all ages to prevent obesity and complications of obesity.

Amy Prestanski, MPH

Coordinator, Community Benefit Planning

Amy joined Scottsdale Healthcare in December 2013 after working as an epidemiologist at the Maricopa County Department of Public Health. Her role with Community Health Services includes the monitoring and evaluation of community benefit activities and the Community Health Needs Assessment which identifies the unique needs of the SHC community. Work on the countywide Maricopa County Community Health Assessment provided her with critical experience needed to help Scottsdale Healthcare become a leader in population health management. Amy earned her MPH in Epidemiology from the University at Albany-SUNY and a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Dallas.

Kim Raine, M.H.A.

Community Health Educator 

Kimberly Raine has earned a Bachelor in Exercise Physiology as well as a Master in Healthcare Administration. Kim has been working in the field for over a decade and has a deep passion to help people maintain and improve health


Paula Rutt, MEd, BSN

Community Health Nurse Educator 

Paula joined Scottsdale Healthcare as a Community Health Nurse Educator in January 2012. She comes to us with a background in community health as she was a school nurse for 22 years in several Scottsdale schools. As a member of Community Health Services, she works with Tobacco Prevention and Cessation programs, and Cardiovascular and Stroke Screenings. She is also an American Heart Association CPR instructor. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and earned a Master’s in Education at Northern Arizona University.
