Intensity - Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
Advances in radiation therapy techniques are constantly evolving. AZCCC now offers Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) using the latest technologies available today.
IMRT is a specialized form of radiation therapy that enables the radiation to conform closely to the 3D shape of the tumor. IMRT is a form of external beam radiation therapy whereby the radiation beam can be broken up into many “beamlets,” and the intensity of each beamlet can be adjusted individually. This means higher dose of radiation to the tumor with potentially less exposure to surrounding, healthy tissue.
