Cancer Survivor Video
My name is Kathy Simpson….(list of names), I was diagnosed with colon rectal cancer, breast cancer, thyroid cancer, cancer of the prostate, breast cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, and bladder cancer. My initial thoughts were about my daughter because I’m a single parent, there’s no one other than me raising her. When I came out he said, “I saw something. That it looked malignant,” and I was just in shock. I really felt lost. I just didn’t know what to do next, where to go. But that word cancer to me was associated with death. Angry, very angry. My world was just crashing down around me thinking I’m too young for this. I definitely worried about my life and was just worried about my daughter who was only five at the time. I basically was dying. I’m not ready to leave my kids. They’re eleven and fifteen. I needed to know how to get better. I ended up at the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. The care at the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center is phenomenal. The doctors are phenomenal. You’re going to have the best and the brightest. Where you can go for help or support or answers, is key to your survival. But I met some of the women who work here and I was just absolutely amazed. Comforting I think is the best word. They were just incredibly compassionate and very competent. Everything here at the center was linked, so I didn’t have to think. I could just concentrate on my healing journey. When I walked through the doors, I’m home. I’m here where people care about what’s going on in my life. Scottsdale Healthcare gave me hope and a second chance at life. The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center gave me my life back again. Actually I don’t know if I’d be here without the center at Scottsdale Healthcare. I would like to thank all of the staff at Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. Thank you Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. I would like to thank all of the people who decided at some point in their life that they were going to give their life to medicine because I did not choose to be here, but they did. And they are the people who are making the difference. When I look in the mirror now I see someone who have come through a great, great struggle, and I beat it. It’s just an incredible feeling to conquer cancer. I just feel very lucky and very blessed. You can fight it. You can absolutely fight it. I am a cancer survivor and am very grateful to be one. I’m a three-time cancer survivor. I am a survivor. I’m a three-time cancer survivor. I am a survivor. I’m a survivor. I am a cancer survivor.
