We Take Your Fight With Cancer Personally

The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare is known throughout the southwest for its commitment to providing personalized cancer care and its innovative combination of community oncology services, academic medicine and genomic cancer research.

Commission on Cancer - Scottsdale Healthcare’s cancer program holds Accreditation with Commendation status from the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Included in the accreditation are the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center at Scottsdale Healthcare, Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center and Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center.

Accreditation with Commendation is awarded to top cancer programs demonstrating the highest levels of cancer clinical services, research, community outreach, quality improvement, leadership and data management.

Scottsdale Healthcare’s accreditation ensures that patients with cancer will have access to:

  • Comprehensive cancer care including state-of-the-art services and equipment;
  • A multispecialty team approach to coordinate the best cancer treatment options;
  • Information and access to ongoing cancer clinical trials and new treatment options;
  • Access to cancer related information, education and support;
  • A cancer registry that collects data on cancer, treatment and results, and offers lifelong patient follow-up;
  • Ongoing monitoring and improvement of cancer care; and most importantly,
  • Quality cancer care closer to home.

This unique cancer treatment and research center provides special areas of expertise that generally are not available in a community hospital cancer program setting.

Dedicated Dec. 6, 2001, The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center is a clinical research site for TGen and home to the Scottsdale Healthcare Research Institute. The institute coordinates the delivery of care with collaborators such as Arizona Cancer Center Cancer Prevention and Control researchers and nursing research chairs from Arizona State University and the University of Arizona.

The Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center includes the Diane and Bruce Halle Clinical Pavilion and the adjoining Debi and Jerry Bisgrove Research Pavilion. Connecting these two buildings is an enclosed pedestrian bridge that symbolizes the center's theme of "Building the Bridge Between Care and Cure." The clinical building embraces the holistic care that helps those who have cancer cope with the disease. It represents the gift of healing.

The Research Pavilion promises the scientific quest for the prevention and cure of cancer. It represents the gift of hope.

By combining the art of healing with the science of biomedical cancer research, the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center is dedicated to all the courageous people who are fighting cancer. We are honored to join the fight, and pledge to provide the personalized care our patients deserve.
