Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center is the northeast’s only pediatric ER featuring its own check-in and lobby areas for children who need emergency services. This 10-bed free-standing pediatric ER is located in a separate area away from adult patients with movie-themed featured walls between patients for greater privacy. It is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians and pediatric-trained nurses.

The eight-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea enhances continuity of care between specialized physicians and caregivers for critically ill or injured children. A full complement of pediatric specialists are available with 24-hr coverage for pediatric surgery and orthopedic needs, with round-the-clock pediatric surgical coverage.

Critically ill or injured child can be stabilized in the Pediatric ER, and then cared for in the Pediatric ICU instead of being moved to another hospital. It also allows a family’s local pediatrician to be more involved while their patient is hospitalized.

The Pediatric ER and Pediatric ICU are state-of-the-art facilities specifically designed to care for critically ill or injured children. They feature colorful, child-friendly environments and kid-size equipment.

From medicines in pediatric doses to special heaters for infants, everything is handy and geared toward children, whether they’re facing a minor emergency like needing stitches or a serious health condition.
