How to Give
Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation values the impact of every gift. Gifts
can be made at any level, and can be directed to a particular project,
program or health initiative.
GIFTS OF ENDOWMENT are an especially rewarding way of giving. The
funds are invested and the resulting interest provides ongoing income
for the purpose designated by the donor. Endowment funds may support
a particular program, such as cancer research, or a specific department
in perpetuity. Endowments at certain levels may bear the name of the
donor or a person of the donor’s choosing. For more information
about endowment gifts, please contact: Jan Miller, Vice
President of Major and Planned Gifts, (480) 882-4557 or
email jmiller@shc.org; or Katharine
Dennis, Vice President of Major and Planned Gifts, (480) 882-6283
or email kdennis@shc.org
ESTATE AND PLANNED GIFTS offer a donor the opportunity to make a gift
to Scottsdale Healthcare in concert with personal long-term financial
and estate planning, which in turn qualifies you for an estate tax deduction.
Bequests enable you to leave a lasting legacy when you remember Scottsdale
Healthcare Foundation in your will or living trust. Likewise, charitable
gift annuities provide income for life for one or two persons, and an
income tax deduction. Charitable remainder trusts also provide income
for life or for a term of years, and both income and estate tax deductions.
By making a bequest or other planned gift to Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation,
you are eligible to join the Legacies of Distinction. For more information,
please contact Jan Miller, Vice President, Major and Planned
Gifts, (480) 882-4557 or email jmiller@shc.org;
or Katharine Dennis, Vice President, Major and Planned
Gifts, (480) 882-6283 or email kdennis@shc.org.
BEQUESTS are a future gift to Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation specified
in a will or trust that allows the donor to retain all assets during
his or her life. There are several types of bequests:
|
• |
With a general bequest you simply leave a specified dollar
amount to Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation. |
|
• |
In a specific bequest you designate certain asset items (whose
value may change over time). |
|
• |
A residuary bequest allows you to assign a certain percentage
of your estate’s value to Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation
and helps ensure that each beneficiary receives a constant proportion
even though changes may occur in the size of the estate. |
There is no limit on the amount that can be deducted from your taxable
estate, and since estate tax rates are graduated – the larger
the estate, the greater percentage of tax owed – a bequest may
reduce the percentage of tax owed on the remainder of your estate. Your
gift of a bequest to Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation would benefit
the people in our community for years to come. Download

STOCK AND OTHER SECURITIES provide financial support to Scottsdale
Healthcare, as well as tax benefits for the donor. If securities have
been held for more than one year, the charitable deduction is the current
fair market value. If the donated securities have gone up in value over
the donor’s holding period, a gift to Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation
may be made without incurring a liability for capital gains taxes. For
more information on transferring securities to Scottsdale Healthcare
Foundation, please contact John N. Ferree, Jr., President,
(480) 882-4516 or email jferree@shc.org.
TRIBUTE AND MEMORIAL GIFTS are a unique way to celebrate life’s
milestones. Whether you wish to recognize someone dear to you, observe
a special event such as a birthday, wedding, anniversary or graduation,
or to honor the passing of an individual who has influenced your life,
a tribute or memorial gift is a thoughtful way to honor individuals
who have touched and inspired you. For more information on how to make
a tribute or memorial gift, please contact Joanne Gain,
Vice President, Major and Annual Gifts, (480) 882-4541
or email jgain@shc.org.
ANNUAL GIFTS sustain ongoing programs and services. With the cost
of patient care, services and technology rising each year, Scottsdale
Healthcare increasingly depends on annual gifts. You may choose to make
an unrestricted gift and Scottsdale Healthcare will direct it to areas
most in need. Or, if you prefer, you may ask that your gift benefit
an area that is especially meaningful to you or your loved ones. For
more information about annual giving, please contact Joanne Gain,
Vice President of Major and Annual Gifts, (480) 882-4541
or email jgain@shc.org.
