Donor Profiles
The decision to give is a highly personal one. For each person, that
decision will depend on the depth of interest in the mission, the degree
of responsibility felt towards others in the community, and individual
capacity to contribute.
We invite you to meet some of Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation’s
donors who have helped support the programs and services at Scottsdale
Healthcare.
Mr.
John Coyle
The Segal Company
“I worked at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital Osborn, now Scottsdale
Healthcare Osborn, in the early 1980s. I was fortunate that my work
allowed me to interact with almost every department in the hospital.
Having worked in other hospitals, I can attest that Scottsdale Healthcare
is by far the top in all aspects of patient care. Through my support
of the annual golf tournament or by attending The Honor Ball, it brings
back the positive memories of my time at Scottsdale Healthcare.”
Dr.
and Mrs. John (Jack) Crowe
“Scottsdale Healthcare has been, and will continue to be, the
critical foundation of health care and supporting services to all of
Scottsdale, including the elderly, the poor, and the disadvantaged.
While other health care providers have targeted portions of Scottsdale,
the exceptional Board of Directors, the Foundation Board of Trustees,
and the staff at Scottsdale Healthcare has remained focused and committed
to providing programs and services to meet the needs of patients throughout
the community and adjacent areas. Increasingly, hospitals and health
care systems throughout the Valley are being controlled by outside individuals
and corporations. It is indeed exceptional and truly fortunate that
Scottsdale Healthcare has excellent local governance, leadership, and
donors who understand and respond to Scottsdale’s needs.”
Mr.
and Mrs. E. K. Gaylord, II
“It is a joy for us to be associated with – and supportive
of – Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation. This entity is one of the
most proactive and progressive groups we have ever been involved with.
Their vision has historically been ahead of the curve to meet the demands
of the growing population throughout the Valley. We are blessed to have
this caliber of health care available to our families.”
Mr.
and Mrs. James Farley
“We have always been impressed by the kindness and patience
of the staff at Scottsdale Healthcare, both rare qualities for a hospital
to possess. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure your comfort while
providing an outstanding level of care. Having been a patient in the
Emergency Room, I was pleasantly surprised when my attending physician
called me at home to check on my condition. That extra step left a positive
impression that has stayed with me ever since. It’s phenomenal.”
Mr.
Kris Davis and Ms. P. Marty Gooding Marsh USA
“Marsh USA supports Scottsdale Healthcare for their dedication
to the health and well-being of the commu- nity – especially women’s
health needs and those of the elderly – and to their internal
workforce. We are proud of Scottsdale Healthcare’s diligence in
always considering the needs of their employees, spanning the continuum
from providing jobs for seniors while allowing for time off during the
summer months, to creating flexible schedules for the nursing staff,
to providing childcare for its employees. Scottsdale Healthcare is
a tremendous organization from the inside out.”
Dr.
and Mrs. Frederick Marciano
Neurological Associates, Ltd.
“One of the unique characteristics contributing to Scotts dale
Healthcare's exceptional commitment to patient care is the level of
personalized care rendered through the vast network of physicians in
each specialty. These groups of physicians consistently strive to maintain
the highest level of professional decorum while providing life-saving
medical care throughout our community. We feel our contributions directly
impact the quality of health care and help build a better tomorrow.”
Mrs.
Clyde “Charlee” Oberlin
“I have always felt a person should use their time to the best
advantage. Being a member of the Auxiliary for over 15 years has been
such a rewarding experience – the need is constantly there and
the hospital staff genuinely appreciates the work we do. I spend my
winters in Arizona and for many years, I volunteered in the Emergency
Department at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn. I was pleased to learn we
were going to build a new Emergency Department, and I wanted to help.
When my husband passed away seven years ago, I began volunteering at
Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation, supporting their fundraising efforts
with Playing for T.I.M.E. and the Scottsdale Healthcare Golf Classic.
Volunteering fills the extra time I have and I am thrilled to do what
I can for the Foundation.”
Lt.
Gen. Frank Sackton
“A few years ago, Mrs. Sackton suggested we do some thing for
the hospital system. Because I had set up a charitable gift annuity
for the Westminster Village Foundation, I was very familiar with the
cash flow and community service benefits of such a gift. As a result,
I created two gift annuities, one of which specifically benefits Scottsdale
Healthcare Shea. I opted to establish a gift annuity because at my age
and level of physical activity, my ability to participate is diminishing.
I love to teach and spend much of my time preparing for my classes.
My participation in helping a good cause like Scottsdale Healthcare
will be through monetary means. It’s my way to give back and ensure
the future of community health care.”
Mr.
and Mrs. Oliver Smith
“We feel it is important to support organizations in our own
community, especially those that improve the quality of life. We have
lived in the Valley for almost 20 years and have seen great change and
growth in Scottsdale – and Scottsdale Healthcare has kept up with
these changes, and more importantly, its growth. We are blessed to have
given birth to three healthy children at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea.
Since then, our children have only had to return for minor procedures,
such as stitches. Our children are very active, and continue to grow
and thrive. We feel confident and secure in knowing Scottsdale Healthcare
will always be here for us.”
Dr.
and Mrs. Paul Whitaker
“Scottsdale Healthcare is such a valuable asset to this community.
We feel the medical and nursing staff at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea
and Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn are among the very best in the country.
Each individual staff member is fully aware of the latest medical advances
and treats every patient accordingly, and in the most compassionate
manner. As a longtime provider, recipient, and observer of medical institutions
in many areas of the United States, we recognize that Scottsdale’s
citizens are extremely fortunate to have such excellent facilities in
their midst and appreciate that our friends and neighbors have made
it all possible through their generous support.”
