Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak is the only Arizona hospital with this exciting new technology to reduce patient anxiety during MRI and CT procedures.



The Philips Ambient Experience allows patients – children and adults alike – to customize their environment to fit their mood or personality through the use of light, sound and technology.

Patients can use buttons and touch screens to control a sensory experience provided by projected scenes on the walls and ceiling. There’s an auditory component, too. It all adds up to distracting the patient during the scan, reducing anxiety in the process.

Patients can select from a wide variety of calming themes, which are projected on rounded walls. Matching the images are appropriate background sounds or music.

Children can choose from kid-oriented themes such as cartoons, while adults can select from a variety of calm and natural settings.
