While many people on occasion experience insomnia, snoring or daytime sleepiness, long term patterns of these and other symptoms should be evaluated for their underlying cause. A lowered quality of life and reduced personal health are the result. Some sleep disorders can even be life threatening.

The Scottsdale Healthcare Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and the public can evaluate sleep services. The physician and patient can feel reassured that they are seeking a sleep disorders center which meets the highest standards of quality patient care.

Following consultation with a physician, patients are evaluated at the Sleep Disorders Center. Trained technicians monitor variables such as brain waves, breathing patterns, eye movement, blood oxygen levels and other parameters needed to study sleep. The tests are interpreted by a specialist who then routes the findings to the patient’s referring physician.

Polysomnography – an overnight sleep recording – is the single most comprehensive diagnostic tool for sleep related complaints. When indicated, polysomnography can assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment of the following sleep disorders:
