Heartburn/GERD Center
GERD, or GastroEsophogeal Reflux Disease occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter, a ring of muscle at the bottom of the esophagus, does not close properly. As a result, stomach contents leak back, or “reflux,” into the esophagus. No one knows why people get GERD. Contributing factors may include alcohol and tobacco use, overweight, lying down immediately after eating and pregnancy.
At the Heartburn/GERD Center, our goal is to provide outstanding cutting-edge, evidence-based medical and or surgical care regarding the diagnosis and management of GERD and related disorders. Our team creates a
personalized treatment plan and uses the latest technologies and treatments available to minimize the impact of heartburn and other stomach conditions.
