Neurosurgery

Orthopedic and neurological services offered at Scottsdale Healthcare span the continuum of patient care. Skilled physicians and surgeons, working together with nursing staff and therapists, form a healthcare team that works closely with the patient and patient’s family.

Orthopedic patients often arrive through the hospitals’ emergency rooms with broken bones from accidents, sports injuries or osteoporosis. Other types of orthopedic patients include those requiring knee or hip joint replacement, or reconstructive knee surgery.

Neurological patients can include those with head injuries, back and neck problems requiring surgery, stroke or brain tumors.

Scottsdale Healthcare’s Institute for Orthopedic and Neurological Surgery is a 49-bed unit on the sixth floor at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn. It is designed to meet the specialized care needs of patients recovering from orthopedic or neurological injuries and illnesses.

A specially trained, multidisciplinary team of nursing staff includes nurses who are certified in trauma care and a certified neuroscience nurse. Inpatient rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and recreation therapy. After the patient is discharged, outpatient rehabilitation services may be continued at several Scottsdale Healthcare outpatient rehabilitation locations in the Northeast Valley.
