Thomas J. Sadvary
CEO, Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network
Tom Sadvary is CEO of Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network, where he led creation of the nonprofit organization through affiliation of Scottsdale Healthcare and John C. Lincoln Health Network in 2013. Mr. Sadvary was appointed president and CEO of Scottsdale Healthcare in 2005 following progressive executive roles after joining the organization in 1986 as administrator of Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center.He began his career at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Barberton Citizens Hospital. Tom earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Allegheny College and his Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. He also worked as a paramedic prior to attending graduate school.He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. His community leadership roles have included the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce, Scottsdale/Paradise Valley YMCA, and as Chair of the City of Scottsdale McDowell Road Task Force.Through involvement in the American Hospital Association, Scottsdale Rotary Club and Greater Phoenix Leadership Council, he continues to lead in the community.He and his wife, Mary, a registered nurse, have been married for 36 years. Their two children, Christopher and Rachel, attended undergrad and graduate schools in Arizona. Mr. Sadvary enjoys playing golf, hiking and traveling with his family.
President, Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network
As president, Rhonda Forsyth’s responsibilities at Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network are focused on transforming healthcare operations, expanding ambulatory and physician networks, developing information systems, and creating accountable care and population health.
She also serves with a variety of industry and community groups including the American Hospital Association, Premier Quality Improvement Council, ASU Dean’s Council and as a trustee of Brophy College Preparatory. She is a member of Greater Phoenix Leadership, Charter 100 and the Arizona Women’s Forum.
Ms. Forsyth joined John C. Lincoln in 1987. She was the CEO of both John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital and John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital, and in 2009, she was named president and CEO of the Network. With the affiliation of John C. Lincoln and Scottsdale Healthcare in 2013, Ms. Forsyth became the president of Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network.
Ms. Forsyth earned a Master of Science in business administration from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Pitzer College.
Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Physician Network Development & Accountable Care
Nathan L. Anspach joined the John C. Lincoln Health Network in February 2010. His responsibilities involve leading the physician efforts, including managing and expanding existing primary care, urgent care and subspecialty physician practices.Mr. Anspach brings more than 30 years' experience as a senior executive of health care management experience, particularly in physician-hospital affiliations, physician practice and ambulatory health care acquisitions and management, and managed care contracting.
Mr. Anspach is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a certified member of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of North Florida. He is a member of the Medical Group Management Association.
Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, Administrator-Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center
As Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network senior vice president and Shea Medical Center CEO, Baker oversees both the Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center and the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak Hospital. His network responsibilities also include leadership of the oncology clinical service line. Since joining Scottsdale Healthcare in 1989 he has held several leadership positions. Prior to joining Scottsdale Healthcare he worked at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago. Baker is a fellow in The American College of Healthcare Executives, has served as Chairman of The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and Masters degree from the University of Illinois.
James F. Burke, MD
Senior Vice President and Chief Physician Executive
Burke has held a variety of medical positions at Scottsdale Healthcare since 1991. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and chief medical officer, then senior vice president of medical affairs before being named to his current position. Burke was in the private practice of family medicine from 1982-1991. He earned his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1979, completed his residency in the Scottsdale Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program, and is board certified in family practice. He holds an MBA from Arizona State University and is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians and American College of Physician Executives. Burke serves on the board of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, as well as the American Hospital Association’s Committee on Health Professions.
Joanne Clavelle, DNP, RN
Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer
Clavelle the joined the leadership team at Scottsdale Healthcare in 2013 as senior vice president and chief clinical officer. A strong advocate for nurses and Magnet recognition, Clavelle emphasizes the importance of teamwork throughout the continuum of care to foster the best outcomes. Prior to joining Scottsdale Healthcare, she was vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho. Her career began more than 30 years ago as a staff nurse in coronary care and the emergency department, and her professional interests also include preventive healthcare, health promotion and community health improvement. Clavelle has a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, is board certified in healthcare administration from the American College of Healthcare Executives and certified in nursing administration-advanced by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
John N. Ferree, Jr.
President, Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation
Ferree has served as president of Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation since 1990. A native of North Carolina, he holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a juris doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. Ferree’s background includes private law practice, banking and more than 20 years in charitable estate and financial planning with nonprofit organizations. He has served as president of the local chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and the Planning Giving Roundtable of Arizona. Ferree also has served on two national boards, the National Committee on Planned Giving and Charitable Accord. He has taught and spoken to groups locally and across the nation. Ferree was selected as the Fundraiser of the Year by AFP in 1996.
Maggi Griffin, RN, MS
Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital Chief Nursing Officer, John C. Lincoln Health Network
Maggi Griffin, RN, MS, joined the John C. Lincoln Health Network in 2010. She worked at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital as a vice president before serving as chief nursing officer for both John C. Lincoln hospitals. Ms. Griffin has more than 30 years' experience as a senior nursing officer, consultant, president/CEO and a staff nurse in Illinois, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Mexico and Ohio, in Beijing, China, and in England. She most recently was the CNO/vice president of patient care services at Condell Medical Center in Illinois, where she also spent part of her tenure as acting president. Ms. Griffin started her career as a staff nurse, and the last position she held in England was as the senior nursing officer at University College Hospital, a 1,600-bed teaching hospital. In 1982, she was licensed as a registered nurse in the United States and quickly progressed from a staff nurse to management positions. She received her master's of science degree in nursing administration from Northeastern University in Boston in 1993 while working as a manager of the medical intensive care unit at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. As president/CEO of the Beijing International Heart Hospital, Ms. Griffin spent 4 ½ years in Beijing overseeing construction and trying to establish the first privately owned cardiovascular hospital there. During her tenure, she taught classes and presented at several seminars and conferences and consulted to improve cardiovascular care in China. Her latest accomplishments at Condell Medical Center in Illinois include improving compliance with best-evidence practice by increasing compliance in all core measures to between 96 and 100 percent in less than a year. She also was instrumental in establishing a culture of safety at Condell and in reducing the expenses significantly in a declining market.
Henderson joined Scottsdale Healthcare as vice president of human resources in 1993. She was promoted to senior vice president/chief talent officer in 2010. Before joining Scottsdale Healthcare, Henderson was vice president of human resources for Inter-Community Medical Center in Covina, Calif., where she was first employed in 1991. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She received her master’s degree with an emphasis in leadership from Grand Canyon University in 2004. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources with the Society for Human Resource Management. She is on the Board of Directors of Jobs for Arizona Graduates.
Kelly joined Scottsdale Healthcare in 2004 as general counsel, became vice president in 2005 and senior vice president and general counsel in 2007. His responsibilities encompass Legal, Risk Management, Corporate Compliance, Governmental Relations, Community Stewardship and Scottsdale Captive Insurance Company. He previously served 14 years as corporate counsel for Virtua Health Systems in New Jersey. Kelly came to Scottsdale Healthcare from Thomas Jefferson University, where he was University counsel for nine years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of South Carolina, master’s degree in healthcare administration and a juris doctor degree from St. Louis University, and a Master of Law in Trial Advocacy from Temple University. Kelly specializes in all areas of healthcare law including transactions, real estate, acquisitions, and bond financing. Some of his professional affiliations include the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Bar Association and National Health Lawyers Association. Kelly is a member of the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and District of Columbia Bars and all federal courts within those jurisdictions.
LaPorte has been with Scottsdale Healthcare since 2001, when he joined the organization as the director of finance. He was promoted to associate vice president of finance in 2005, to vice president of finance in 2006, and to senior vice president and chief financial officer before being named to his current position. Prior to Scottsdale Healthcare, LaPorte served nine years as the chief financial officer of Dental-Net in Tucson, Ariz. He began his career in healthcare finance with Ernst & Young, where he worked eight years, rising to the level of senior manager before joining Dental-Net. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Arizona and an MBA from Arizona State University.
As Scottsdale Lincoln Health Network senior vice president and Osborn Medical Center CEO, Pearson oversees both the Osborn Medical Center and the John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital. He comes to Osborn after serving as CEO of the North Mountain Hospital since 2008. His network responsibilities also include Trauma and Emergency service line and Lean/Continuous Improvement initiatives. His experience includes more than 27 years of service in senior leadership positions in Arizona hospitals. He has served Chairman of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He holds a master's degree in health services administration from Arizona State University and a master's degree in business administration from Brigham Young University.
Post joined Scottsdale Healthcare in 1991 and has held numerous positions throughout the organization. Most recently, she serves as the Administrator of our newest hospital, Thompson Peak. Post holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University and a Master's of Business Administration from University of Phoenix. She is also certified in Advanced Nursing Administration from the American Nursing Credentialing Center and serves as a Board Member on the Arizona State Board of Nursing.
