Outpatient Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Programs
Scottsdale Healthcare has Physical Therapists (PT) who specialize in orthopedic and sports medicine rehabilitation at all 3 facilities, as well as Occupational Therapists (OT) who specialize in rehabilitation to the upper extremity at Osborn and Shea Medical Centers. Our primary goal is to return you to your recreational, work or sport activity as soon as possible within the constraints of the natural healing process. We work with a variety of patients from different age groups and different levels of activity and sport. These include working adults, high school athletes, weekend warriors, and the active retired population. We have excellent outcomes with overuse injuries such as rotator cuff tendonitis, patella tendonitis, hamstring strains, ITB syndrome, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, and medial and lateral epicondylitis of the elbow (tennis elbow). We also provide safe and effective post-surgery programs for ACL reconstructions, meniscal injuries, rotator cuff repairs, hip and shoulder labrum repairs, total joint replacements, spinal surgery, and upper/lower body fractures.
Each patient will receive personalized care with an individualized rehabilitation program based on specific functional deficits and return to activity/sport goals. Our programs include range of motion exercises, strengthening, balance, agility, and sports-specific activities. Therapists also provide evidence-based and extensive hands-on techniques to improve range of motion, decrease swelling, decrease muscle spasms, and improve alignment of the low back and pelvis. The therapists may use modalities, such as ASTYM, ice, heat, ultrasound, iontophoresis, and electrical stimulation to decrease pain and swelling. Our OTs provide custom-made splints for the hand, wrist and elbow.
