Trauma Education 

The Trauma Center is dedicated to the development of EMS providers and its hospital staff, including nursing staff, ancillary staff, physician extenders and physician staff. Many clinical rotations provide learning opportunities for students including but not limited to nursing students, medical students and EMT/paramedic students. The Trauma Center also has an integrated surgical residency program with Maricopa County Medical Center. 

Trauma Research 

The Trauma Research Program’s focus is to identify ways to improve the care, management, and treatment of critically injured patients. The goal of the research team is to increase the knowledge and understanding of trauma while optimizing the patient’s care. We hope to increase public awareness of trauma and promote opportunities to minimize associated death and disability.

As an ACS Verified Level I Trauma Center, multidisciplinary faculty investigators come together and participate in a variety of research protocols. The results of this collaborative effort have the potential to improve outcomes for trauma victims in our region and on a global basis. Currently, we are actively involved in numerous orthopedic, neurosurgical, and general trauma related studies.

Clinical research is conducted according to federal regulations administered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP).
