Outpatient Nutrition Counseling
at Scottsdale Healthcare
Meet with a registered dietitian in order to gain knowledge in how to promote good health through proper eating and exercise habits.
Individual nutrition counseling sessions can address a number of dietary issues including, but not limited to:
- Gastrointestinal Problems
- Liver Disorders
- High Cholesterol
- Pre-Diabetes
- Food Allergies or Intolerances
- Weight Management
The initial counseling session includes a nutrition assessment based on your current eating pattern, medical history, body composition and lifestyle. A customized eating plan based on your lifestyle and preferences is provided following the assessment. You will receive education and guidance in making healthy food choices along with printed material for home use; whether your goals are to achieve weight loss or to address specific medical issues that require dietary modifications. Follow up sessions usually lasting up to 30 minutes are encouraged after the initial meeting in order to provide further guidance and support.
Outpatient nutrition counseling services are offered at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center. Nutrition counseling is covered by some insurance plans with a written physician referral. We ask that you please call your insurance company prior to making an appointment to verify this benefit. A same-day self-pay option is also available at a reduced rate if your insurance will not reimburse for this service. Please remember to bring your insurance card and/or payment by cash or check for this service.
