A board-certified surgeon, Dr. Freedman is medical director of the Scottsdale Healthcare Heartburn Center. He specializes in gastric esophageal surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and advanced laparoscopic procedures. Since 1988, Dr. Freedman has served as a private practice surgeon in the metro Phoenix area. He has been named a “Top Doctor” by Phoenix Magazine multiple times and also has received several “America’s Top Surgeons” awards. Dr. Freedman earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Arizona, where he also received his medical degree. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency at the University of Florida, Shands Hospital. Dr. Freedman also served as a research fellow and instructor of emergency medicine at the same hospital. A member of the American Medical Association and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Freeman has published several articles in professional medical journals. He also has been a presenter at therapeutic radiology and oncology meetings.
