Meet Our Educators 

Community Health Services provides health education programs to the community through a staff of health educators committed to addressing Scottsdale Healthcare, state and federal community and public health initiatives. 

Michelle BarthMichelle Barth, LMSW, /ACSW
Health Educator 

Michelle joined Scottsdale Healthcare in August 2008 as a Licensed Master Social Worker specializing in geriatrics. She works with the Healthy Steps program, a home-based fall prevention intervention for people 75 years and older who are at risk for falling in their homes. Michelle also works with a second fall prevention program, 2 Fit 2 Fall, a community partnership involving the City of Scottsdale Fire Department and Senior Centers, ASU and Scottsdale Healthcare. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Boise State University and her master’s degree in social work at University of Hawaii Manoa. 

Patricia NeusPatricia Neus, AFAA, CHES
Health Educator 

Patricia joined Scottsdale Healthcare as a Health Educator in 2008 and works collaboratively with Community Health staff on programs which include children’s immunizations, Coordinated School Health, Health and Wellness Coaching, Health and Fitness classes - Senior Strength Training, Form and Function, and CrossFit. Patricia is a member of the National Honor Society. Patricia graduated from Arizona State University with honors with a B.S. in Health Promotion. Her education includes program leadership and development, nutrition, disease management, epidemiology, substance abuse and prevention, stress management, mental health, and more. 

Kerry HenneyKerry Henney, RN
Health Educator 

Kerry joined the Community Health Services team in 1999. As a Community Health Nurse Educator, she coordinates programming in four school districts and co-coordinates the Children’s Immunization Program. Programs in the schools include Chill Out and Chat, Sun Safety, Tobacco Prevention, Immunization and Flu Clinics, and Grand Canyon Trekkers. Kerry bases her school programming on the Coordinated School Health Model developed by the Centers for Disease Control. Kerry received her Associate’s degree in Nursing from Rio Salado Community College and is currently attending Grand Canyon University for her BSN. Kerry is a member of the Cambridge Who’s Who, National Student Nurses Association, and The American Holistic Nurses Association. She is a certified Car Seat Technician and certified SunWise Instructor. 

Alisa HawthorneAlisa Hawthorne, RN, MSN
Supervisor/Health Educator 

Alisa joined Scottsdale Healthcare in 2001 and Community Health Services in 2006. She provides health education and prevention program development, coordination, implementation and evaluation in an effort to work collaboratively with community partners to promote Scottsdale Healthcare and public health initiatives. Alisa was the principal investigator for the Grand Canyon Trekkers research project, a school-based lunchtime walking program. Alisa received her B.S. in Nursing from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing and her M.S. in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, American Public Health Association, and Project Concern International. 

Kanina McDonaldKanina McDonald, MSN-Ed,RN
Health Educator 

Kanina began her career with Scottsdale Healthcare in 1994 and joined Community Health Services in 2009. Kanina works collaboratively with the team on developing programs for children 0-5, teen pregnancy, and adolescent health. Kanina received her B.S. in Nursing from Arizona State University in 1992 and completed her Master of Science in Nursing - Nursing Education at Grand Canyon in 2010. She received training in Critical Incident Stress Management and is an Evidence-Based Practice scholar. She is a member of the American Nurses Association, National League for Nursing, and Arizona Public Health Association.

Health Educator

Chris O’Mara joined Community Health Services in October, 2010. She has previous experience in school nursing, labor and delivery, mother-baby, nursery and teaching. Chris will coordinate the early detection and screening community programs and school based tobacco prevention and cessation programs. She received her BSN, from University of Michigan and expects to obtain a M.S. in Nursing Education from Northern Arizona University in May, 2011. She is a member of National League of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, Arizona Public Health Association and AWHONN.

Lynn UntermeyerLynn Untermeyer, RN, MSN-L, IBCLC
Health Educator 

A Scottsdale Healthcare staff member since 1984, Lynn joined Community Health Services in October 2008. She has experience in a variety of areas, including lactation, cardiac health, respiratory health, labor and delivery, nutrition, and parenting. Lynn is a Certified Lactation Consultant and Car Seat Technician. As a member of Community Health Services, she works with early childhood, immunization and car seat programs. Lynn earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing and Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health from Purdue University. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from University of Phoenix and completed her Master of Science-Nursing Leadership at Grand Canyon University in 2011. She is an Evidence-Based scholar and part of the Critical Incident Stress Management Team. She is a member of The American Organization of Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau and Alpha Chi.

Dale L. YavittDale L. Yavitt BFA, RTT
Health Educator 

Dale started with Scottsdale Healthcare in 1986 as a Respiratory Therapist and joined the Community Health Team in 1998. In her role as Regional Coordinator, Dale works with schools and different community organizations in the northern sector of our service area to develop and coordinate prevention programs with our community partners. Dale represents Community Health Services in the FitCity Community Collaborative. She received her B.A. in Fine Arts from Arizona State University and her degree in Respiratory Therapy from Biosystem Institute. Dale is an ACE certified personal trainer, CPR instructor, Keiser m3 spinning instructor and AFAA aerobics instructor.
