An Exciting New Approach to Total Hip Replacement Surgery | June 18 | 6 - 7:30 p.m.,Does hip pain interfere with your quality of life? Join orthopedic expert Brian Miller, MD as he discusses the latest surgical advancements in treating hip pain. A variety of topics will be presented, including the benefits of the less invasive Anterior approach to total hip replacement at Scottsdale Healthcare, which includes less pain, fewer restrictions and shorter recovery time. Light refreshments will be served.

Living with Lymphedema | June 24 | 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.,Join us for a monthly interactive and informative class on lymphedema maintenance and education. Guest lecturers and specialists regarding this chronic condition will be featured each month along with interactive sessions on your specific questions and concerns. The support group will meet in the Education Conference room on the first floor of the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center. Heart Health Evaluations | July 9 | 8:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.,To educate women and men 20 years or older on heart disease. The evaluation will help patients understand the risk of heart disease and which steps to take to protect your health. Patients will get their fasting lipid profile, glucose, and blood pressure checked. Also, measure waist circumference, calculate body mass index and Framingham Risk assessment (their 10 year risk of having a heart attack). The Nurse Practitioner will discuss what all the numbers mean, areas to focus/work on, risk factors for heart disease & stroke and signs and symptoms. Patients will be referred to cardiologists on staff if someone is high risk. Patients must be fasting 10 hours prior appointment time. Water is ok. If you take blood pressure medication, please take it at least 1 hour prior to your appointment time. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call (480) 882-4636 to cancel or reschedule. Appointments are required and fees are due at time of registration. The screening will be held at the Women's Diagnostic Center at Shea Medical Center. The center is located in the main hospital building on the ground floor. The south/valet parking entrance is the closest entrance to the center.
